Peaceful march in Putyatytsi, 1941 commemorating crimes perpetrated by the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs) against its villagers.

This peaceful protest march commemorated five Putyatyntsi villagers arrested and in four cases murdered by the NKVD (People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs) between 1940-1941. The victims of these crimes, as outlined in Roman Korytko’s book Putyatintsi, published in 2008, were:

Klym Andrievsky. Born 1920. Teacher. Arrested 25 February 1941. Convicted on 3 June 1941, of being a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Sentenced and served 8 years in prison. Rehabilitated 16 January 1989.

Peter Vivsyanyk. Born 1910. Farmer. Arrested 18 April 1941. Charged with being a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Incarcerated at Stanislav prison. Fate unknown. Case file closed 21 November 1964.

Ivan Woliak. Born 1914. Hotel innkeeper in Rohatyn. Arrested 9 December 1940. Charged with being a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Incarcerated at Stanislav prison. Fate unknown. Case file closed 21 November 1964.

Vasyl Vysochansky. Born 1920. University student in Lviv. Arrested 1941. Died in prison.

Fedir Hnatkiw. University student in Lviv. Arrested 1941. Died in prison.
